    FAQ 01

A padded back panel and handles, and 20 litres: room for the day.

Active commuting, walking or cycling, rose to 37% in the 2026 Eurobarometer on sport.

    FAQ 02

    FAQ

    Backpacks for work

    01

How do I choose a backpack that fits my laptop?

Sleeves are named after the screen size, measured diagonally, so compare your laptop's width and depth with the sleeve. A 16-inch MacBook Pro measures 35.6 × 24.8 cm; other 16-inch laptops differ. Each backpack states its sleeve size.

    02

How many litres should a work backpack have?

For the daily commute, 15 to 40 litres is the usual range. Around 20 litres carries a laptop, lunch and a jacket; 30 litres or more leaves room for gym kit.

    FAQ 04

    The denier lab

Denier is the weight of the yarn, not its strength on its own: the fibre and the weave matter too.

Why duffel? In the 1670s a thick woollen cloth took its name from Duffel, a town in Brabant; the duffel bag followed around 1915.

    FAQ 03

    FAQ

    Sports bags

    03

What does 600D or 900D mean on a bag?

D stands for denier, the weight in grams of 9,000 metres of yarn. A 600D fabric uses a heavier yarn than 300D, and 900D or 1680D heavier still, which usually gives a tougher feel. Denier alone is not strength: fibre and weave matter as well.

    04

Which bag suits the gym: drawstring, backpack or sports bag?

A drawstring bag is the lightest choice for a towel, a bottle and trainers. A sports backpack with a shoe pocket suits team training and muddy boots, and a sports bag or duffel takes a full kit for an away game. All three take your logo.

    FAQ 06

    FAQ

    Events and printing

    05

Which bag makes the best trade show giveaway?

One that visitors keep using after the show. A drawstring bag is light and quick to hand out, a document bag holds brochures flat, and a sturdy tote carries the whole day's catalogues. Choose a fabric and size that suit everyday life too.

    06

Which print method suits which bag material?

Screen print gives crisp solid colours on cotton and polyester, transfers carry full-colour images and fine detail, embroidery adds texture to heavier fabrics, and sublimation suits light-coloured polyester. Each product lists the methods it supports.

Will it fit in the cabin?

Checked in October 2026; some fares exclude the cabin bag. EU Regulation 2026/2202 will make a 40 × 30 × 15 cm personal item free; until then, airline rules apply.

    FAQ 08

    FAQ

    Flying with your bag

    07

What size is a cabin bag and a personal item in Europe?

    Every major European airline we checked accepts a 40 × 30 × 15 cm personal item under the seat. Cabin bag limits run from 55 × 40 × 20 cm to 56 × 45 × 25 cm, and Air France and KLM allow 55 × 35 × 25 cm, so a 55 × 35 × 20 cm bag fits them all.

    08

Can I take a power bank and liquids in my cabin bag?

Power banks travel in the cabin only: two per person at most, and since March 2026 they must not be recharged on board; Lufthansa and KLM also ban using them. Most EU airports still limit liquids to 100 ml containers in a clear 1-litre bag, though some scanner lanes allow up to 2 litres.

Our rule of thumb: one six-can cool bag for every six guests.

The tote began as an ice carrier: in 1944 L.L.Bean sewed a canvas bag to carry block ice home, and in 1965 it returned as the Boat and Tote.

    FAQ 09

    FAQ

    Beach and cooler bags

    09

How do I pack a cooler bag so it stays cold?

Use frozen gel packs and spread them through the bag rather than all at the bottom, as the UK Food Standards Agency advises. Fill the bag well, because a full cooler stays cold longer than a half-empty one (USDA), and keep it in the shade. For long, hot days, a rigid cool box keeps cold longer than a soft cool bag.

    10

What makes a good branded beach bag?

Room, strong straps and a print area that shows. A bag of around 52 × 37 cm takes towels, a bottle and sun cream, long straps carry it on the shoulder, and heavy cotton gives embroidery and transfers a clean base. Pick a colour that makes your logo stand out on the sand.

    FAQ 11

    FAQ

    Outdoor bags

    11

What is the difference between water-resistant and waterproof?

Water-resistant fabric sheds light rain and splashes; any stronger claim needs a test. For fabric, the hydrostatic head (ISO 811) gives the height of water in millimetres it holds before leaking. For a whole closed bag, an IP code (IEC 60529) does: IPX6 covers powerful water jets, IPX7 immersion to 1 metre for 30 minutes. Seams and zips are the weak points.

    12

How many litres should a hiking backpack have?

REI suggests 10 to 40 litres for a day hike, 30 to 50 litres for a weekend of one to three nights, and 50 to 80 litres for three to five nights. A trail run needs only 1 to 10 litres.

    FAQ

    Shopping bags

    13

How many times do you need to reuse a tote bag?

It depends on the material and the impacts counted. Against a light plastic bag reused once as a bin bag, the Danish EPA (2018) found 52 uses for a conventional cotton bag on climate alone and far more across all 16 impacts, while recycled PET and non-woven PP bags need 6 to 8. The lowest-impact bag is the one you already have and keep using (UNEP).

    14

Are plastic carrier bags still allowed in the EU?

Yes, but their use is capped. The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40, applied since 12 August 2026, keeps the limit of 40 lightweight plastic carrier bags per person a year; very light bags needed for hygiene or to prevent food waste can be left out. EU use fell from 95 bags per person in 2018 to 65 in 2023 (Eurostat).

    Premium brands

    15

Can I put my logo on Samsonite, Wenger or other premium bags?

Yes. Our Travel & Lifestyle collection carries brands such as Samsonite, Wenger, Herschel, Fjällräven, Osprey and Thule. Wenger pieces take embroidery, screen print, laser engraving or pad printing, and most other brands an embroidered or vinyl logo. Each product page lists its options.

    16

Catalogue bags usually ship 7 to 14 working days after artwork approval. Premium brands are personalised to order, so lead times vary by brand and we confirm them in your quote. Minimums vary too: Samsonite, Herschel and Eastpak start at 10 units.

    Find your answer

    Your quote checklist

    17

Is there a minimum order for branded bags?

It depends on the bag. Many catalogue bags have no minimum; premium brands such as Samsonite, Herschel and Eastpak start at 10 units. Setup is shared across the run, so larger runs give better value per bag.

    18

How long does it take to get branded bags?

Catalogue bags usually ship 7 to 14 working days after artwork approval, plus delivery. Bespoke bags typically take 4 weeks or more, and premium brands vary. We confirm dates in your quote.

    19

Will I see a proof before production?

Yes. We send a digital proof of your logo on the bag, and production starts only once you approve it in writing. Physical samples depend on the product; we confirm what is possible in your quote.

    20

I need bags fast. What are my options?

Choose a catalogue bag with a standard branding method and approve the proof quickly: the clock starts at artwork approval. Express delivery can be booked, but only before dispatch.

    21

What logo file do you need?

A vector file (AI, EPS or vector PDF) for screen print, embroidery and laser engraving. Full-colour methods such as digital transfer and sublimation also accept a high-resolution image.

    22

Can you match my brand colours?

Screen print uses Pantone spot colours, the closest match to a brand colour. Embroidery uses the nearest thread, full-colour methods print in CMYK, and the fabric colour matters too, so check the proof.

    23

What do RPET and GRS mean on a bag?

RPET is polyester made from recycled PET, mostly plastic bottles. The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certifies at least 20% recycled content; only products with 50% or more can carry its label.

    24

What does g/m² mean for a tote bag?

It is the fabric weight in grams per square metre. Cotton of around 105 g/m² suits giveaways, while 280 to 320 g/m² feels sturdy and carries heavy shopping. 1 oz/yd² is about 34 g/m².

    25

Do you deliver across Europe and to several addresses?

Yes. We deliver to all 33 European markets and can split one order across several addresses. A local phone number for each recipient helps the courier deliver first time.

    26

Can you deliver to the UK, Switzerland or Norway?

Yes. Customs adds a few days and the receiver usually needs an EORI number. Under DAP terms the receiver pays import duties and taxes; DDP is not always available and must be agreed before dispatch.

    27

Can bags go straight to a trade show stand or a hotel?

Often, but venues set the rules: stands take deliveries only on build-up days, and hotels may refuse parcels. Aim for a day or two before the event, never opening day.

    28

Can a backpack with a USB port charge my phone on a plane?

Only with your own power bank inside the bag. Power banks travel in the cabin only, two at most, and since March 2026 must not be recharged on board; Lufthansa and KLM also ban using them.
